Wandering Star - University Project, Conceptual Development
I See the Music! brief
I'm not sure how much detail you can get with this photograph, but I didn't want to push the photography too far since I am submitting in this category. However, there will be another submition of some studio shots that were needed for postcard prints (more on that later!)
This is basically a concept/idea of what I see in this particular recording, I am - of course - referring to a track by Portishead of the same title as this submition. Monsters and creatures were what I wanted to get across, one of my lecturers talked about Where the Wild Things Are when I told her of my idea, which is absolutely cool fulls stop.
A little description on how I made it, glass is one bloody tough material, I had to hammer the first bottle three times before I realised just how hard I actually needed to hit it. Its also one bloody tough material to stick together, I thought hot glue would do but it was pathetic to say the least. What I got instead was the (silicon) sealant you use in the bathroom to make cracks and seams in the tiles watertight, that was a bitch to work with, didn't smell so nice either.
There was a consolation though, I recieved no cuts, given that I worked on it for two days with my bare hands!
