Live forever, or die trying.
Renaissance Remix Contest

I remember the last time we had an animated film of this type - Waking Life. It was recieved with lukewarm reviews here in Australia. I did not see it then, which suprises me, as it should be an inspired viewing. That was in 2001. Hopefully a few years have given others time to better the format and an innovative way of cinema.

For the type nuts out there, Futura was used as an aesthetic decision as well as a conceptual one. From what I have heard and seen so far from the overall design of the movie, harking back to the culture and art of the past plays an important role in distinguishing the visual language of the film. I thoroughly enjoyed using the restrictive palette, and the clear cut images, textures are just that much more intriguing in a black and white world.

can't you see that this is life and life is killing me
is it yours? is it mine?
our sky fell down tonight, to wash away our pain

I like it, although it does remind me of some of the V for Vendetta ads.

That would be because the promottion for V set the same typeface - Futura. Since it embodies the values of the Futurist movement, it's stylish values can be easily recognised.

There are parallels that can be drawn between these two movies, how accurate and closely matched they are is still an assumption to me. The word Renaissance already has so many meanings attached, finding a typeface that could express it well was a key in my opinion.

Thank you for your comment :)
